Quick-Start Guide

New to ESR? Let’s have a checklist of what to do first to get started!

1. Settings

The Settings are the no.1 go-to section of the system. Add Halls (and Groups/Levels if you want to use it) and set up Currency and Payment. The rest of the Settings can be done a bit later but it doesn’t hurt to get familiar with all the sections and functionality.

Learn more about the Settings here.

2. Teachers

So you have the basic Settings ready, right? Let’s add your Teachers as the next step.

Learn more about the Teachers here.

3. Waves

Before jumping to Courses, make sure to add a Wave first. This is your semester/trimester or whatever block of classes you run in one go.

Learn more about the Waves here.

4. Courses

Since you have your Halls, Teachers, and Waves ready, now is the best time to start adding Courses. Add your first one and then duplicate with slight changes to make it super fast!

Learn more about the Courses here.

5. Discounts

Do you offer discounts when signing up for multiple Courses? Or maybe a time-limited price to motivate Students to sign up early? If you are using the Discount Module, now is the time to set up your discounts.

Learn more about the Discounts here.

6. Settings Again

All above done, almost rushing to open your registration? Wait a bit – nobody wants to have confused Students. Head back to the Settings and prepare your Email templates! Clear communication is a must otherwise you’re gonna get a lot of emails no machine can answer for you.

Then continue directly to Style&Registration to set up Open/Close/Thank You messages, Newsletter checkbox if you want to collect emails (GDPR is strict and fines costly, make sure you have your Students’ consent to send them emails). Terms&Conditions are a must, never skip that. We recommend adding a link to a separate page with details.

Now is the time to polish your Registration Form design. Go to Style and play around with the colors and transparency (opacity). A great way to tailor it to your liking is to create a draft page (unpublished), add a shortcode, preview the page and always refresh to check the updates you make in Style.

7. Test before rest!

Finally ready to open registration and lay back watching it do its job. We highly recommend testing the whole flow yourself so you are 100% it’s how you want it.

Open a draft page with a shortcode, register for a couple of Courses with your own email. Check the initial emails – all good? Then go to the Registration section and manually confirm yourself for all Courses (via the Action button). Check the confirmation emails, info, and prices – all good? Nice!

Also, simulate the Payment flow. Go to the Payment Emails section and send yourself a Payment Reminder Email. Then to the Payments section – confirm payment but add lower than full amount and send yourself another Payment Reminder Email, this time from the Partially Paid table. When confirming the payment and selecting the checkbox for the Payment Confirmation Email – all good there?

Awesome! Clean after yourself (remove and remove forever your registrations), check that your Wave open time&date is correct, check that your web page with a shortcode is up and running.

Now it’s the time to relax, sit back, and think of your next cool event that you are going to run with EasyEvents plugin. Well done!
